“Project: CODE_RUSH”: Great Video documentation about Netscape and Mozilla

project_code_rush_banner.jpg

If you’re into software and the internet, enjoyed reading books like Weaving the Web: The Original Design and Ultimate Destiny of the World Wide Web by Its Inventor (by Tim Berners-Lee), Where Wizards Stay Up Late: The Origins of the Internet or Dreaming in Code (about the Chandler project) and Mozilla‘s Open-Source Software products like the browser Firefox or the email client Thunderbird are amongst the list of your favourite computer programs then – well chances are very high that you might enjoy the movie Project: CODE_RUSH. Relax and enjoy! :-)

Code Rush [...] is an inside look at living and working in Silicon Valley at the height of the dot-com era. The film follows a group of Netscape engineers as they pursue at that time a revolutionary venture to save their company – giving away the software recipe for Netscape’s browser in exchange for integrating improvements created by outside software developers.” (Source: Project: CODE_RUSH)

Linus the parenting gold star – big smile!

I had a big, big smile while reading Linus Torvalds latest blog post titled Parenting gold star (?). Here is why – enjoy, as much as I did!:-)

One of his children, Celeste (8), was asked in Tae-Kwon-Do summer camp to write a letter home about how she is thankful to their parents.

She is starting like follows:

Celeste:You buy me lunch, breakfast and dinner. You bought me animals to play with so I could have a lot of fun in my life.

… nice, fine so far…

Celeste:You also let me bury them instead of flushing them down the toilet.

Well, yeah, something that does obviously really count for a child. As Linus states: premium parenting Clearly have to remeber this!

Linus:Ooh, yeah! That’s some premium parenting there. Gold stars all around!

Closing clause:

Linus:Of course, she has clearly forgotten about the fish. We did flush those.
